Life is a progress, and not a station. - Ralph Waldo Emerson
At the communities of Mercy Community Health, "care" is not a one-dimensional word. We care with compassion. We care with medical services. We care with spiritual support and healing. But what it all comes down to is that we provide person-centered care.

By looking at health care in this way, we are able to offer outstanding, holistic services to all people in our care. And because we recognize that senior stages of life are not always linear, we offer a complete continuum of care that supports our clients no matter what their needs.

Our four communities integrate residential, medical, supportive and interfaith services for residents of our West Hartford campus, as well as the greater Hartford community.

The McAuley
For active older adults seeking a secure yet rewarding lifestyle, The McAuley offers independent living in an ideal Connecticut location.

Mercy Community HomeCare
With care and compassion, Mercy Community HomeCare delivers the full range of in-home services that many seniors and their families seek.

Saint Mary Home
Saint Mary Home provides an array of care options including skilled nursing care; supportive independent living; post-hospital recovery; physical, occupational and speech therapy services; a medical model adult day care program; specialized dementia care and respite care.

Mercyknoll
Formerly a skilled nursing facility and retirement home for the Sisters of Mercy, Mercyknoll is currently in transition.

Quality
While all four communities have their own unique services, they all share a key component -- CQI...continuous quality improvement. Mercy Community Health is part of an elite group of Aging Service Networks to be accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities -- Continuing Care Accreditation Commission (CARF-CCAC). This accreditation became effective on June 30, 2006.

As a CARF-CCAC accredited organization, Mercy Community Health is committed to Performance Improvement in both service delivery and business function. We are also dedicated to conforming to CARF-CCAC's more than 700 standards of performance.

To further measure and assure quality, each of our communities has individual quality standards. For details, visit our individual quality pages:

Pastoral Care
Another crucial aspect of our continuum of care is our dedication to providing pastoral care -- the healing of the spirit. For many older individuals, situations and circumstances can become disarming and overwhelming. By respecting each of our clients for the dignity they possess as human beings, and by giving them the spiritual support they need to overcome their personal obstacles, we help our clients enjoy a fulfilling and rewarding senior life stage.

Pastoral care also encompasses our interfaith services. Because all faiths are welcomed and celebrated at MCH, we provide the services and ceremonies of many different faiths right on our campus. We also help our clients connect to the faith-based organizations in our local community.

Pastoral care is delivered differently depending on the needs of our clients and the community in which they live. Learn more about pastoral care at The McAuley and Saint Mary Home.

The results are clear. Mercy Community Health provides a continuum of care in one central location to meet every senior's needs for an enjoyable, healthy and secure lifestyle, both physically and spiritually.
