Special Presentation at July 10 Alzheimer\'s & Dementia Family Caregiver Support Group Meeting

The Alzheimer’s & Dementia Family Caregiver Support Group Meetings at Saint Mary Home continue to draw new members to each of their monthly meetings, and they welcome all who are interested to participate in their July gathering, which has a special focus.  On Thursday, July 10 at 4:30 p.m., guest speaker Annabel Trickett, graduate student clinician/speech language pathologist, will address the topic of “Caregiver-Administered Active Cognitive Stimulation for People with Dementia.”

Ms. Trickett will discuss practical techniques for conversation with people living with dementia, including initiation, maintaining attention and problem solving.  The presentation is free and open to the public; however, advance registration is encouraged.  Call Eileen Cleary, director for dementia education and programming, at 860.570.8335 by July 8 to register.

Alzheimer’s & Dementia Family Caregiver Support Group Meetings take place on the second Thursday of each month in the Center 1 Dining Room of Saint Mary Home.
