Saint Mary Home Director of Nursing Aysha Kuhlor Named Nursing Administrator of the Year
At its annual conference, the National Association of Directors of Nursing Administration in Long Term Care (NADONA) named Aysha Kuhlor,
director of nursing/resident care for Saint Mary Home, Eastern Regional Nurse Administrator of 2009. Aysha was surprised to learn at the conference, held in Phoenix, AZ this summer, that she had been nominated for the honor by three colleagues.
According to one nominator: "(Aysha's) dedication to the nursing department is an inspiring example to the entire facility. There she realizes the team concept in all who ultimately report to her. The lines of communication are open and readily available. She leads by encouraging others to do their best for the good of those residents/patients whom we serve by caring for them with contagious enthusiasm. She has the ability to instinctively discern areas where the staff might require some more education and then goes about having the identified areas appropriately in-serviced, or she will develop a teaching plan to complete the objective. She is sincerely passionate about the quality of nursing care..."
Aysha is President of the Connecticut Chapter of NADONA/LTC, a recipient of the "Quality Award" from Catholic Health East, and a nominee for a Distinguished Service Award from the Connecticut Association of Not-for-Profit Providers for the Aging.
