Register Now to Attend Pastoral Education Workshop
On Tuesday, November 3, Mercy Community Health and Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center will present a half-day workshop at The McAuley, 275 Steele Road in West Hartford. "Using Lamentations to Lament: Exploring Healing for Ourselves and Others through Sorrow-Filled Stories" will run from 7:30 a.m. until noon in The McAuley Auditorium. Rabbi Bonita E. Taylor, who was named 2008 Chaplain of the Year by the New York Board of Rabbis, and Rabbi David J. Zucker, Ph.D. will serve as keynote speakers.
Intended for religious leaders, pastoral visitors, clergy, pastors, ministers, hospital chaplains, youth ministers, Eucharistic Ministers and pastoral volunteers, this workshop will use the Biblical Book of Lamentations to access and liberate the laments in our souls and in the souls of those to whom we offer spiritual care. The cost of registration is $25.00 for seminarians and CPE students and $30.00 for the general public. Rabbi Taylor is an ACPE Supervisor and Staff Educator at HealthCare Chaplaincy in Manhattan. She is widely published and has extensive experience as a lecturer and workshop presenter for Jewish and non-Jewish communities.
Rabbi Zucker is Chaplain and Director of Spirituality at Shalom Park, a senior continuum of care center in Aurora, CO. He publishes, teaches at the university level, and presents workshops throughout the United States.
