Alzheimer's Association Family Training Seminars at Saint Mary Home in June

A four-part training program for caregivers of family members with Alzheimer's disease and related dementia will begin June 3 and run through June 24 in the Callaghan Crossing Conference Room at Saint Mary Home.  Members of the public are welcome to register for any or all of the sessions.
On June 3, Mercy Community Health's Medical Director, Dr. Frederick Rowland, will provide an Overview of Alzheimer's Disease and Research.  North Central Regional Director of the Connecticut Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, Patty O'Brian, will discuss Alzheimer's Association Programs and Services.
Ms. O'Brien will return June 10 to address Communication Techniques, Identification of Behavioral Challenges, Strategies That Work and Maintaining a Safe and Secure Environment.
On June 17, Ron Bowen, executive director of Atria Larson Place, will offer training around the topic of Family Dynamics:  Keeping the Caregiver Healthy.
The series will culminate June 24 with a presentation by Attorney Neil Kraner, who will discuss Legal and Financial Issues.
